About us

Kentucky Climate Choir welcomes everyone interested in peaceful performance for climate action. We are a small but active group within the Climate Choir Movement. All songs are taught by ear, with music available for those who find that helpful. If you’d like to join us or find out more, please drop us an email or come along to a rehearsal.

Kentucky Upcoming Local Events

October 3rd: focus on the forest. Red Bird, KY. We will be singing to bring attention to the logging taking place in the Daniel Boone National Forest. We will be hiking and singing in the forest. The event will be documented by a videographer to be distributed via social media.
October 13th: we will be singing in African Cemetery #2 as part of Tree Week. The Cemetery recently has been designated as an arboretum. But the history of the Cemetery is one of decades of neglect even though prominent African Americans in the horse industry are buried there. Dedicated volunteers have brought the Cemetery back to life. home | African Cemetery No2
October 20th: we will be singing before the showing of the film, “The Seeds of Peace,” at the Kentucky Theatre. The film chronicles the story of Hideko Tamura Snider, a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bombing who later settled in Oregon. Through her Seeds of Peace initiative, seedlings propagated from trees that survived the Hiroshima bombing have been planted in communities across Oregon as symbols of hope, resilience, and peace. We are exploring the possibility of bringing one of these seedlings to Lexington and hope our city can become a “Seeds of Peace” community.
November 3rd: focus on water. We will be staging to bring attention to the KY River and the number of forever chemicals in the waterway named for our state.
